The gas account is 2 months behind. I received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on December unless I pay $450. I have never been late before a reduction in hours. I called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $110 first, which I don't have. I live with two young children, and going through winter without gas isn't safe. Without it we can't refrigerate insulin and food, or keep the house at a safe temperature. I'm working on getting back on my feet, and will pay forward whatever help I can once I'm steady. Every dollar goes to the account in Carolina's name; a copy of the paid bill will be shared in the updates. Where the $450 goes: • Gas arrears: $195 • Reconnection and late fees: $100 • Down payment on a payment plan: $155 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Carolina

Updates from Carolina

  1. Small update. $20 so far, the plan for gas arrears is now scheduled.

  2. 4% there. I made the first payment toward reconnection and late fees. Thank you.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($10 in total) I made the first payment toward down payment on a payment plan. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Take care, Carolina. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. I'll check back for the next update.

        • Best of luck, Carolina. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best.
