What help could your household get?
Before you ask strangers for money, make sure you are getting everything you are already entitled to. Answer a few questions and we check 2026 federal rules for health coverage, food, cash, energy bills, phone service and legal help in your state.

How this works, and its limits
- Income tests use the 2026 HHS poverty guidelines (higher in Alaska and Hawaii), SNAP limits for October 2026 to September 2027, and each program’s published federal threshold. Medicaid expansion status is from KFF’s state tracker. Checked October 2026.
- States add their own rules: asset limits, immigration status, work requirements and local programs. “Likely” means worth applying, not a promise. The agency decides.
- If you are unsure, apply anyway. Applying is free, and a denial letter tells you exactly why, which you can appeal. A free local benefits counselor (dial 211) can help you apply.
- HelpBLESS is not a government agency and does not see or store your answers.
