Stop the eviction: 5 months of rent for Fitria's family in Jakarta
After a delayed insurance payout, Fitria is 5 months behind on rent and has a notice to vacate from the landlord.

When the textile factory closed in August, I fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Thursday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $450.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave.
I have two young children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working weekend shifts, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $450 goes:
• Rent arrears (5 months): $240
• Late fees and court costs: $35
• Utilities in arrears: $40
• First month of rent as a buffer: $135
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Sending strength. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Greetings from Jerusalem.
you're not alone. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Stay strong, Fitria. Shared this with my family. We're a small family in Surabaya but we're thinking of you. God bless.
Keep going. This could happen to any of us. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. All the best.
Take care, Fitria. I hope things turn around soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend
