The Neighbors' Pantry pantry in Oakland is running low just as demand rises; $2,600 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Wednesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 8 families, and now we feed 327 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 41% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Oakland market and keep every receipt.
Each $45 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,200
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $630
• Baby formula and diapers: $520
• Refrigeration and electricity: $250
