Surabaya
Gita was diagnosed with kidney cancer in February. The oncology team at Surabaya Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in May. She will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Gita is 41, worked as a taxi driver until February, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Surabaya Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,600 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $185 • Transport to Surabaya Regional Medical Center: $60 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $135 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,220 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Updates from Eka

  1. We're at 19% thanks to 10 of you. I met with the treatment center and confirmed the amounts. More news soon.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 15% now ($246). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward household costs while unable to work.

  • keep going. Wishing Gita a smooth procedure and a full recovery.

    • Thinking of you and your family, Eka. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. God bless.

          • Good luck. Hope the doctors have good news. After 15 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless.
