For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,050. It will serve about 133 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,050 goes: • Materials: $840 • Permits and inspections: $50 • Safety equipment and signage: $80 • Tools hire and delivery: $80 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
