Let's build a solar-powered water pump together in Atlanta
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at Jacaranda Primary School that will serve 307 neighbors.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,000.
It will serve about 307 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Materials: $1,750
• Permits and inspections: $380
• Safety equipment and signage: $300
• Tools hire and delivery: $570

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Aurora.
Sure. The biggest one is materials, $1,750. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Fair thing to want to know.
You're not alone, Aurora. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
