A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Leeds
Volunteers in Leeds are raising $1,600 for a sensory garden for children with autism at Baobab Primary School.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,600.
It will serve about 551 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,600 goes:
• Materials: $830
• Permits and inspections: $260
• Safety equipment and signage: $210
• Tools hire and delivery: $300
Every share and every dollar helps.
