A powered wheelchair would give Charlene independence - we're $850 away.

Sandton
Charlene lives with multiple sclerosis. The occupational therapist at the Sandton Mobility Clinic has assessed her and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $850. Her current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 6 weeks. With the right equipment Charlene could go to school independently. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $850 goes: • powered wheelchair: $760 • Delivery and set-up: $35 • First-year servicing plan: $55 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

  • Thinking of you, Rachel. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My husband and I read this together. God bless.

    • You're not alone, Rachel. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. All the best.

      • So sorry you're going through this, Rachel. Wishing Charlene a smooth procedure and a full recovery. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from Üsküdar
