A repair café workshop: a volunteer-led effort in Sydney
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a repair café workshop - we need $3,250 for materials.
🇦🇺 Sydney, New South Wales, Australia3,485 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,250.
It will serve about 155 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,250 goes:
• Materials: $2,450
• Permits and inspections: $360
• Safety equipment and signage: $440
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

So sorry you're going through this, Andrew. Your post was clear and honest. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. All the best.
Good luck, Andrew. Hope this works out for you. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My neighbor in Madrid donated after I showed her your page. All the best.
Hope things get better soon, Andrew. Shared this with my family. My neighbor in Abuja donated after I showed her your page. Take care
