Óscar is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an agriculture degree at the Houston Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,950. The registrar has said Óscar can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Óscar has a 3.9 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Óscar would lose his place and scholarship eligibility. Óscar isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Houston Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $1,950 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $1,600 • Exam and lab fees: $150 • Textbooks and materials: $200 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
