A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at the Union vacant lot that will serve 373 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 373 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $300 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $145
• Tools hire and delivery: $85
• Permits and inspections: $70
