Stop the eviction: 5 months of rent for Hailey's family in Dallas
The closure of the factory left Hailey short on rent for 5 months; help us stay in our home.
🇺🇸 Dallas, Texas, United States1,298 views
When my hours were cut in half in January, Hailey fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Friday a court summons for non-payment was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $2,600.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by June, the family must leave.
There are a teenager still in school at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Hailey has started working weekend shifts, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Utilities in arrears: $370
• Late fees and court costs: $350
• Rent arrears (5 months): $1,880
Thank you so much.

I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.
