Oakland
My family left Myanmar 10 months ago after the conflict closed our school and clinic. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Oakland. We're a family of four and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in July. I was a farmer in Myanmar, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $3,200 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $1,200 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $740 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $410 • Language classes and bus passes: $550 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $300 If you're reading this, thank you.

Updates from Emilio

  1. Thank you all. We're at 3% now ($80). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward language classes and bus passes. - Emilio
