Standing with Lan: kidney cancer treatment costs
Lan is facing kidney cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.
🇻🇳 Hồ Chí Minh City, Vietnam678 views
Lan was diagnosed with kidney cancer in May. The oncology team at Hồ Chí Minh City Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in July. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks.
Lan is 36, worked as a primary school teacher until May, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Hồ Chí Minh City Cancer Centre 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $760
• Household costs while unable to work: $300
• Scans and lab work: $140
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Hang in there, Kiên. This could happen to any of us. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Take care.
Sending good thoughts, Kiên. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out
Best of luck, Kiên. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. All the best
Sending strength, Kiên. Shared it with a few friends. Wish I lived closer to Warri so I could bring a meal. All the best.
You're not alone. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
