Rides to dialysis three times a week for Radha in Kolkata

A rota of drivers to the Kolkata Kidney Centre would keep Radha on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Radha has been on dialysis for 1 years and until recently drove to the Kolkata Kidney Centre alone. After a foot amputation, Radha can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 14 km each way. Radha is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Thanks for being kind about this.

  • Thinking of you and your family, Lata. Hope you get there. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Madurai

    • Hope things get better soon, Lata. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from Nairobi

      • Hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best
