Plant 4,450 native trees around the Lotus wetland in Jeddah
Help us clean and replant the Lotus wetland before the December planting window closes.
🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia1,705 views
The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 99 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 100 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $360
• Native saplings and stakes: $630
• Signage and educational materials: $160

Wishing you the best, Yasir. Great idea, hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.
good luck. Shared it with a few friends. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. God bless.
You're not alone, Yasir. This could happen to any of us. Greetings from Fort Worth
