Restoring the Baobab wetland: a volunteer-led project in Jakarta Barat
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Baobab wetland needs $350 for saplings and equipment.

The Baobab wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 68 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 148 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $210
• Tools and protective gear: $45
• Waste removal and skip hire: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $25

Sending strength, Irfan. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Love from Kobe.
Sending love, Irfan. This could happen to any of us. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. All the best
