I'm caring for me, who's 83. After a heart attack Rainer can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Rainer desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Rainer worked all of his life as a carpenter, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Medication and prescriptions: $450
• Part-time carer (eight months): $1,600
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $600
