In May I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. My oncology team at the Paris Oncology Institute has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in August. I was told to expect about 3 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 24, I worked as a hairdresser until May, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Paris Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $7,300 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $4,850 • Scans and lab work: $1,150 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,300 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Maëlle

So sorry you're going through this, Maëlle. Looking forward to the next update. Put this on a community board in Marseille this morning.

    • Sending love, Maëlle. I hope things turn around soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
