Surgery fund for Elaine: cataract surgery in Pelotas
A scheduled cataract surgery in May is out of reach without help covering $250 of the cost.

Elaine was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in March. The surgeon at Pelotas Orthopedic Institute recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $310, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $250 short.
my mother has been in and out of Pelotas Orthopedic Institute since March. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $310 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Elaine struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Elaine won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
