Amparo needs a lift to Madrid General Hospital - can you help one day a week?

A rota of drivers to Madrid General Hospital would keep Amparo on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Amparo has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to Madrid General Hospital alone. After an eyesight problem, Amparo can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 24 km each way. Amparo is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

        • Wishing you the best, Hugo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.

          • Hope things get better soon, Hugo. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. After 29 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything
