The Liberty hillside cleanup and restoration: help our volunteer crew
Help us clean and replant the Liberty hillside before the February planting window closes.
🇪🇹 Addis Ababa, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia513 views
The Liberty hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This November, 94 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 82 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $210
• Signage and educational materials: $25
• Waste removal and skip hire: $65
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Small update. $102 so far, I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts.
Update from Addis Ababa: the first invoice got paid this week. We're at 27% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
