Let's build a sensory garden for children with autism together in Denver
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at the Union vacant lot that will serve 496 neighbors.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $4,050.
It will serve about 496 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $4,050 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $380
• Permits and inspections: $110
• Materials: $3,560
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. After 29 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
