A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Laval
A community-led a playground at the Unity health centre yard that will serve 156 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $550, and the remaining cost is $2,350.
It will serve about 156 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Materials: $1,200
• Permits and inspections: $370
• Safety equipment and signage: $450
• Tools hire and delivery: $330
