Gonzalo was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in June. The surgeon at Ciudad de México General Hospital recommended septoplasty, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,550, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,500 short.
my son has been in and out of Ciudad de México General Hospital since June. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,550 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Gonzalo struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Gonzalo won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,150
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $820
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $95
• Post-operative medication: $95
• Physiotherapy sessions: $250
• Travel and lodging for the family: $90
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
