The house fire that spread across the block hit Eastgate village on 24 August. My home was one of 12 damaged, and 11 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $6,100 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $3,800
• Tools and labor for repairs: $880
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $500
• Food parcels for displaced families: $920
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Praying for you. Your post was clear and honest. We're a small family in Envigado but we're thinking of you.
Thinking of you and your family. Great idea, hope you get there. Wish I lived closer to Pittsburgh so I could bring a meal. Take care.
so sorry you're going through this. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. It's not much but it's yours. Take care.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Multan.
