Flood in Hồ Chí Minh City: help the Northside district rebuild
After the flood, families in the Northside district need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇻🇳 Hồ Chí Minh City, Vietnam273 views
The flood hit the Northside district on 23 July. My home was one of 53 damaged, and 11 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Food parcels for displaced families: $220
• Clean water and purification supplies: $120
• Tools and labor for repairs: $230
• Roofing sheets and timber: $430
Glad we found this place.
Updates from Long
Good news. Because of your gifts ($19 in total) I made the first payment toward roofing sheets and timber. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
