A free library and reading room for the Baobab community hall: help our neighbors in Hồ Chí Minh City
Volunteers in Hồ Chí Minh City are raising $500 for a free library and reading room at the Baobab community hall.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 417 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $500 goes:
• Materials: $350
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Safety equipment and signage: $50
• Tools hire and delivery: $70
