Faruk was diagnosed with cervical cancer in September. The oncology team at the Gazipur Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Faruk is 47, worked as a primary school teacher until September, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Gazipur Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $750 goes: • Scans and lab work: $210 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $40 • Transport to the Gazipur Oncology Institute: $95 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $405 Glad we found this place.
