Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Saturday from the back of a community center. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 239 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 55% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Nairobi market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $550 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $140
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $370
• Baby formula and diapers: $40
Thanks for being kind about this.

Wishing you peace. Great idea, hope you get there. My husband and I read this together.
Thinking of you and your family. Shared this with my family. Love from Dnipro!
How is Namukasa doing now?
stay strong. I hope things turn around soon. Thinking of Nairobi.
Sending strength. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best
Sending love. Looking forward to the next update. Greetings from Guadalupe.
