Feed 392 families each week at Community Pantry in Biratnagar
The Community Pantry pantry in Biratnagar is running low just as demand rises; $450 will stock it for 10 weeks.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Saturday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 13 families, and now we feed 392 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 50% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 9 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Biratnagar market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $450 goes:
⢠Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $200
⢠Fresh vegetables and fruit: $165
⢠Baby formula and diapers: $40
⢠Refrigeration and electricity: $45
Thanks for being kind about this.

Best of luck. Looking forward to the next update. I hope October is when things finally get easier.
is there anything that isn't money that would help Bimala?
Thank you. If you're in Biratnagar I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Happy to explain more.
Hope things get better soon. Shared it with a few friends. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
Stay strong. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend
rooting for you, Bimala. This could happen to any of us. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. All the best
