Clean streets and rivers for Gatineau: restoring Baobab Beach

Help us clean and replant Baobab Beach before the October planting window closes.

Gatineau
Baobab Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 75 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 200 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage. Where the $1,850 goes: • Tools and protective gear: $260 • Waste removal and skip hire: $860 • Native saplings and stakes: $730 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Thomas

Updates from Thomas

  1. Update from Gatineau: I made the first payment toward waste removal and skip hire. We're at 16% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

Hope things get better soon, Thomas. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Gatineau.
