Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Lagos
Help keep a free food pantry open for elderly neighbors in Lagos.
🇳🇬 Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria932 views
Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Harvest Pantry every Thursday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 295 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 37% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Lagos market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $450 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $220
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $165
• Baby formula and diapers: $35
• Refrigeration and electricity: $30
Every share and every dollar helps.
