I'm caring for my father, who's 83. After a fall and hip fracture Nonso can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Nonso desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Nonso worked all of his life as a shopkeeper, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $500 goes:
• Part-time carer (four months): $300
• Medication and prescriptions: $100
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $100
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
