Back to business - Faruk's comeback in Dhaka
Faruk has run a laundry service for six years; a storm that collapsed the roof destroyed the equipment, and $400 will put it back on its feet.

For six years I have run a laundry service in Dhaka. In September, a storm that collapsed the roof took two washing machines and a dryer. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Saturday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 10 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $400 goes:
β’ Replacing two washing machines and a dryer: $240
β’ Initial stock: detergent and packaging: $35
β’ Shop repairs and licensing: $55
β’ Working capital for the first month: $70
Thanks for reading all this.
