Pedro is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a diploma in hospitality management at Buenos Aires Community College, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,000.
The registrar has said Pedro can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Pedro has a top-ten-percent average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Pedro would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Pedro isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Buenos Aires Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $570
• Final term tuition: $390
• Exam and lab fees: $40
