Guilherme was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in April. The surgeon at Petrópolis Orthopedic Institute recommended septoplasty, and He is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,550, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $1,250 short.
my husband has been in and out of Petrópolis Orthopedic Institute since April. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without septoplasty. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,550 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Guilherme struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Guilherme won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.

• Physiotherapy sessions: $160
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $150

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Guilherme.
Physiotherapy sessions is $160 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. I'll keep the page updated.
