A youth football pitch for the Baobab vacant lot: help our neighbors in Mombasa
Volunteers in Mombasa are raising $650 for a youth football pitch at the Baobab vacant lot.
🇰🇪 Kenya2,109 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 256 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $650 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $55
• Materials: $510
• Tools hire and delivery: $85
Thanks for being kind about this.

Take care, Tabitha. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Please keep us posted
wishing you peace. More neighborhoods should do this. Thinking of Mombasa
Hope this works out for you. Greetings from Rajkot
Thanks for sharing this. Great idea, hope you get there. After 9 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
