Femi was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in August. The oncology team at Lagos Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks. Femi is 46, worked as a shop owner until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Lagos Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,500 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $910 • Scans and lab work: $135 • Transport to Lagos Cancer Centre: $120 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $125 • Household costs while unable to work: $210 Thanks for reading all this.

Thank you. If you're in Lagos I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Happy to explain more.

      • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Femi.

Chemotherapy and medication not covered is $910 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks, that means a lot.

      • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best
