A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Edinburgh
Volunteers in Edinburgh are raising $1,800 for a youth football pitch at the Acacia vacant lot.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,800.
It will serve about 446 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,800 goes:
• Materials: $1,450
• Permits and inspections: $160
• Safety equipment and signage: $190
