A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Verona
Volunteers in Verona are raising $2,000 for a youth football pitch at Union Park.
🇮🇹 Italy2,015 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,000.
It will serve about 189 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Materials: $1,400
• Permits and inspections: $150
• Safety equipment and signage: $90
• Tools hire and delivery: $360
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Stay strong, Sara. Hope this works out for you. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care.
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We're a small family in Marseille but we're thinking of you. All the best.
Stay strong, Sara. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 31 people at work
hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Thinking of Verona!
hang in there, Sara. Hope this works out for you. Take care.
So sorry you're going through this, Sara. Great idea, hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
More neighborhoods should do this. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Take care.
