Community Pantry: keep the shelves full this school holidays
The Community Pantry pantry in Saint-Étienne is running low just as demand rises; $3,250 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Sunday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 155 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 37% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Saint-Étienne market and keep every receipt.
Each $40 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $3,250 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,750
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $980
• Baby formula and diapers: $270
• Refrigeration and electricity: $250
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
