For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom community hall, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $310, and the remaining cost is $650. It will serve about 360 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $650 goes: • Materials: $450 • Permits and inspections: $60 • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $100 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
