A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Metz
Volunteers in Metz are raising $2,500 for a community fridge at the Maple vacant lot.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,500.
It will serve about 547 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $410
• Safety equipment and signage: $300
• Materials: $1,790
