I coordinate donations at Sycamore Refugee Centre in Fresno. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes 4-12. If you're in Fresno, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at Sycamore Refugee Centre on Sunday between 9am and 2pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the Sycamore Refugee Centre clothing bank, which is open to everyone. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • hang in there. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Fresno.

    • Best of luck. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Greetings from Pune.

      • You're not alone, Nevaeh. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. My husband and I read this together. Thinking of Fresno.

        • good luck, Nevaeh. Shared this with my family. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. All the best.

          • Wishing you peace. Shared it with a few friends. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too!
