Los Angeles

Megan is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a diploma in hospitality management at Los Angeles Community College, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,850. The registrar has said Megan can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Megan has a distinction average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Megan would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Megan isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees. Where the $3,850 goes: • Final term tuition: $2,200 • Exam and lab fees: $70 • Outstanding tuition balance: $1,580 If you're reading this, thank you. - Dennis
