Weekly meals for families and seniors in Osaka
The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Osaka is running low just as demand rises; $2,650 will stock it for 6 weeks.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Wednesday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 295 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 39% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 11 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Osaka market and keep every receipt.
Each $40 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,650 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,150
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $960
• Baby formula and diapers: $330
• Refrigeration and electricity: $210
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
Updates from Tomoya
Update from Osaka: we've started the first stage. We're at 15% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
We're at 5% thanks to 5 of you. I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. More news soon.
