Help Urvashi get through 6 hard months with two young children
A single mother in Mumbai needs help with childcare, groceries and rent while Urvashi retrains.

Since a sudden redundancy in April, I'm now raising two young children on my own. I work as a cleaner, but my income doesn't cover rent, childcare and groceries.
I'm retraining as a teaching assistant in the evenings, which will triple my income by June, but I need to bridge the gap until then.
Some weeks I skip meals so my children can eat. I have never asked anyone for help like this before, and I'm doing it for them.
Once I finish my course, I'll pay it forward.
Money goes toward rent, groceries, after-school care and the cost of my course. I'll give a monthly update with receipts.
Where the $500 goes:
• Childcare and after-school care: $165
• Rent top-up: $190
• Groceries and school meals: $145
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. We're a small family in New Delhi but we're thinking of you. Love from New Delhi
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Urvashi.
Sure. The biggest one is childcare and after-school care, $165. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Fair thing to want to know.
Good luck, Urvashi. This could happen to any of us.
Sending strength, Urvashi. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon
hope it all works out. Your post was clear and honest. Take care.
Thanks for sharing this, Urvashi. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Love from Dehiwala.
