The the Sunday Shelf pantry in Dortmund is running low just as demand rises; $2,350 will stock it for 6 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Sunday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 296 each week. Donations have dropped by about 31% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Dortmund market and keep every receipt. Each $35 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $2,350 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $810 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $830 • Baby formula and diapers: $530 • Refrigeration and electricity: $180 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Matthias
